Industrial Engineering is a dynamic engineering discipline concerned with the design, improvement, and management of systems across a wide range of fields, from manufacturing to services, from logistics to finance, and from healthcare to information technologies. It focuses on bringing together fundamental resources such as people, machines, materials, information, technology, and energy in the most efficient way possible. In today’s world, industrial engineers are expected not only to solve technical problems but also to understand emerging technologies, use artificial intelligence and data-driven approaches, communicate effectively, act entrepreneurially and innovatively, and see the bigger picture.

As the Department of Industrial Engineering at İstanbul Kültür University, our primary goal is to educate engineers who receive education in line with contemporary standards, are equipped to work in various sectors, think analytically, follow technological developments, and approach complex systems from a holistic perspective. The fact that our undergraduate Industrial Engineering program is accredited by MÜDEK demonstrates that the quality of our education is evaluated according to nationally recognized standards and continuously improved through a culture of continuous improvement. Our curriculum and elective course pool are regularly reviewed and developed to cover contemporary fields such as manufacturing, logistics, supply chain management, data analytics, artificial intelligence, decision-making, quality management, project management, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Through our broad elective course pool, students can select courses in line with their interests and career goals, thereby shaping their professional orientation.

Our educational approach is not limited to classroom instruction. We support our students in working on real-world problems through course assignments, term projects, and graduation projects. Graduation projects carried out in the final year are conducted in collaboration with companies from the sector. Through this process, our students have the opportunity to apply their engineering knowledge while becoming better prepared for professional life. In addition, students are encouraged to prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals based on their course projects and graduation projects, to present papers at national and international conferences, and to apply to the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program, the TÜBİTAK 2209-B University Students Research Projects Support Program for Industry, as well as project calls and competitions supported by various industrial organizations.

Our competent academic staff support students not only in their academic development but also throughout their career journeys. In our department, we place great importance on helping students develop skills in research, project development, teamwork, presentation, effective communication, and interdisciplinary thinking. In addition to our Production and Measurement Technologies Laboratory, our computer laboratories equipped with up-to-date software contribute to integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Through technical visits, seminars, symposia, career days, and sectoral meetings, our students have the opportunity to meet professionals from different fields as well as our alumni.

Our program includes two compulsory internships: a production internship and a management internship. Through these internships, students observe manufacturing and service systems on site, become familiar with business processes, and gain professional experience. In this way, they have the opportunity to develop both technical and managerial perspectives before graduation.
In our department, we attach importance to students benefiting from Erasmus+ exchange programs. Our students are encouraged to study at partner universities in various countries and to complete internships abroad. In addition, students who meet the required conditions can pursue double major and minor programs in all departments within İstanbul Kültür University.

Since 2002, our graduates have been pursuing successful careers in many different sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, finance, consulting, information technologies, healthcare, retail, energy, aviation, automotive, and many others. Our extensive alumni network serves as an important source of experience sharing, guidance, and career connections for our students. The positions our graduates hold in different sectors and the achievements they have attained are among the most concrete indicators of our interdisciplinary and strong educational approach.

As the Department of Industrial Engineering at İstanbul Kültür University, we aim to educate our students not only according to the needs of today but also in a way that will enable them to remain strong in the face of the uncertainties and opportunities of the future.
