Industrial Engineering

A study presented by our Industrial Engineering Department faculty members at the “24th International Conference on Modeling & Applied Simulation (MAS 2025)”, held in Fes, Morocco between September 17-19, has been published in the International Multidisciplinary Modeling & Simulation Multiconference (I3M 2025) proceedings and made available online.

The research papers titled “Enhancing Small Cosmetics Businesses with Big Companies Innovations: A Sustainable Productivity, and Lean Manufacturing Journey”, jointly prepared by Assist. Prof. İbrahim Ethem Tarhan from the Department of Industrial Engineering, and our master’s student Abeer Mutahar, and “Applying Machine Learning for Monthly Forecasting of Real Estate Sales to Foreigners in Türkiye”, jointly prepared by Assist. Prof.

As part of the “ENC1001 - Engineering Orientation” course offered by the Department of Industrial Engineering, a seminar was held on Thursday, October 9, featuring Osman İnal, one of our 2023 graduates, as the guest speaker.

Department of Industrial Engineering held an orientation meeting on September 22, 2025, for the first-year students newly enrolled at our university. During the meeting, comprehensive information was provided to students about the department's academic staff, academic plan, course content, systems used, and student clubs.

As part of the orientation, students' questions were answered, and guidance was provided regarding the academic and social opportunities within the department. We wish our new students success in their academic journey.

Three articles written by Ceren Kaçar and Rabia Şivetoğlu, undergraduate students in the Department of Industrial Engineering, and Soulayma el Hallab and Abdul Baset Mohammad Saeid, graduate students in the Program of Engineering Management, have been published in the International Journal of Contemporary Social Sciences. The article details are as follows:

Bahadır Karabağ, our 2013 alumni, and Mehmet Can Erdal, our 2016 alumni, participated as speakers in the seminar organized on Monday, March 17, as part of the “IE2401-Introduction to Industrial Engineering” course given in the Department of Industrial Engineering.

Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Murat Ermiş, our senior students Hacı Mahmut Demirkutlu, Şevval Aygün, Selay Berker, Ayşe Ulaşlı, and Gizem Özcan from the Department of Industrial Engineering have been accepted into the 2024-2025 LIFT UP Industry-Oriented Undergraduate Graduation Projects Program run by TUSAŞ.

In scope of their graduation projects, our students will focus on solving the “Flow-Shop Job Assignment Problem in Machine Tools.”

Our faculty members and alumni from the Department of Industrial Engineering presented their work at the “International Symposium for Production Research 2024” held in Budva, Montenegro, between October 10-12.

Two General Research Project (GAP) proposals applied by the faculty members of the Department of Industrial Engineering were accepted by the Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit.
