Project Management at Mercedes Benz Cars
Compact Cars MFAII Project
by
Klaas Erik ZIMMER
Mercedes – Benz AG, Stuttgart
A high four-digit number of executives and employees are directly involved in MFAII project at Mercedes. The organization is huge, which means an entire department is required just to organize the Project. Many Project Management principles you studied during your PM-classes are anchored in the Daimler organization for decades, as the organization constantly works on projects. Due to changing customer - and stakeholder - demands during the project phase, its complexity grew considerably. The schedule of several models had to be changed, contracts with suppliers had to be renegotiated constantly. Cost targets were hard to reach. Many challenges are faced such as; (1) Project communication management: there exist too many parties involved, (2) Project resources: the members working on a vehicle project are needed for 5-6 years, etc.
Klaas Erik Zimmer is a team member of this challenging Project. He studied Project Management in İstanbul Kültür University, Industrial Engineering
Department as an Erasmus student. He will be sharing his knowledge and experiences with us as a guest lecturer in a specially designed 2 days course.
If you have taken IE0409 Project Management course, you are genuinely invited to attend this special case class and enhance your Project Management skills. If you haven’t taken the course, you can still get a lot of benefits from the lecture.
